July 7th - Ginza, Tokyo Station and Marunouchi
written on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 @ 10:30 PM ✈
You don't understand how hard I laughed when I was playing this at 2am.
※ Note: Best read in conjunction with the album photos.
Today's post goes from this photo here to here --- log in to see them.
Woke up around 8 again, and then we went to Ginza. Today was tanabata so we saw quite a lot of decorated bamboo trees/plants. First place we went to was Itoya but it didn't open til 10 and it was 9:50 when we got there so we walked around for a bit. It was a grand opening, cause it moved to its new location down the street. It was so ceremonious, even had that rope thing and its big door rotated to open. It has 12 levels and sells things like laptop cases, pens, home items and had cute animal ice pop makers which I totally wanted but space issues :(
The floor map said the top level was a farm and we were extremely intrigued but when we got there it was just a cabbage farm....
Next went to uniqlo, we didn't really buy much but I think Rosemary got a couple of shirts. They also sell really nice looking yukata @_@ Tried on sunglasses and Rosemary got a pair.
After that walked down further down the street (btw uniqlo was basically down the street from itoya) and went to hakuhinkan toy park, which changed since the last time I came and there was still just green tea, cheesecake and dark chocolate kit kats.
Went upstairs to the restuarant and had okonomiyaki set which had soup, mini okonomiyaki, kalbi don and some crunchy salad (which was so delicious). After that had to walk back to station and we stopped at manneken along the way. Bought the 7 piece waffle set for 1000, which included limited edition mixed berry flavour, chocolate chip, chocolate coated on one side, maple syrup, plain, green tea, almond. Rosemary got an extra 白桃 (hakutō, white peach) cream waffle.
Finished probs around 2:30 or something then took train to get to Tokyo Imperial East Gardens. Took a while walking around and taking pictures.
After that, walked back to Tokyo station and went to character street. Jump shop wasn't even the one shown on websites, and didn't even have my naruto vol. 72. Bought the naruto illustration book though. Continued to walk around character street, then went to ramen street where we didn't even eat ramen for dinner (ㆀ˘・_・˘) We got chicken katsu curry instead. Even though I can read Japanese, the guy there assumed I couldn't and when I picked up the Japanese menu he exchanged it for an English one... And unfortunately that menu doesn't mention you can get large servings and I didn't realise until the guy sitting next to us got a large serving ╥﹏╥
It was too late cause we already got our food but I wanted to see the menu again so I picked up the Japanese one to re-read the part about large servings but the server thought I couldn't read Japanese and brought me the Enligsh menu again!!! Nooooo why. Anyway, contrary to people who believe Japanese curry is just sweet, this one was spicy and actually chilli, not enough to really burn you but it does build up as you eat (a good level of spiciness).
Afterwards we checked the map and tokyo station is so big we had been underground for forever and it hurt from all the walking. Was so excited to see on the underground map that we had actually walked half the length of the station already so we only had to find the exit and then the International Forum (we thought we still had to walk much, much more). Went there and took pics inside, then went to find muji.
We were so close to its location but couldn't find it so we stopped at a koban to confirm and it seems we JUST missed it. It's really dumb because I noticed the big sign for Loft on the way, but Muji was actually right next to it... We both missed it because we expected Muji to be in red but actually it has iconic giant white text.
Was in there for quite a while then we left to go home, probs got home around 10-10:30
