When you are struggling to study for your last ever finals exams while trying to collect important university documents that show your graduation date and the university student centre on multiple occasions doesn't give you what you need because they keep saying I'm graduating next year??? LIKE REALLY NOW??? It's even ON THE OFFICIAL SYDNEY UNI WEBSITE what my graduation date is, and why on earth have my faculty support officers and honours project co-coordinators and LITERALLY EVERYBODY in the faculty of vet science been saying for the WHOLE year we are running our semester 2, assignment due dates AND final exams earlier than the rest of the uni?? BECAUSE WE ARE GRADUATING THIS YEAR not next year. Ugh. How can you be working for the university student centre and not check your facts before trying to call me out. If you think I'm wrong, don't just disagree but check your facts first. Good one. Making a one day job into a two week job. 0 comment[s] | back to topbig nope

So you know... my two final exams are on next Wednesday and Thursday (it's stuvac right now). And manuscript took all my energy from me, like I feel the impending doom of exams but my body makes no effort to move towards doing something productive. It's currently Tuesday, a week before exams and I only have half a semester's worth of notes for both subjects. Not to mention I haven't actually studied any of it sigh. Also lately, whenever people my age talk to me about their career plans, future plans, plans to buy a house etc etc. I have an existential crisis every time and feel incredibly sick to my stomach. I just can't do life right now. 0 comment[s] | back to topwritten on Thursday, October 20, 2016 @ 11:24 AM ✈
I forgot to write this yesterday but normally you only see like one roadkill every couple of trips to (and from) Camden but yesterday there was three... One was right in the middle of the road (the part that divides the different directions of traffic) and we all had to swerve to avoid it... There was also blood smeared all over the road :/ 0 comment[s] | back to topwhat is a break

The peace and relief after honours is so short lived (jokes I just feel empty). Time to make AND study a whole semester's worth of notes for two coursework units in a week. Hah. 0 comment[s] | back to topHonours is over and I...

don't know how to feel. I feel numb and in pain. I submitted it yesterday at 2pm (it was due at 4pm) but some of my friends finished it on Sunday. On Sunday I worked on it from 9am to 3am straight, with only the most minimal breaks for eating and showering (I'm talking minutes). Woke up again yesterday and worked on it from 10am until 2pm. Of course most things were "written out" but there were soooo many things that needed to be done and fixed. I don't know how to explain it. One of the worst parts was spending an hour to get the page numbering to work properly x_x I got so pissed and frustrated during this time. Anyway my eyes are completely dead from working on it for all those hours on Sunday and Monday. Also I only got less than 6 hours of sleep on Sunday, since I couldn't fall asleep. Plus I slept badly and my back still hurts from it even today (it's Tuesday now). Also thank god my parents and sister basically left the house all to myself on Sunday so I could stress about it alone (they didn't leave because of me, they just happened to have things to do). This also meant I didn't eat a proper dinner because I don't feel hungry while stressed. Got a McDonald's wrap but felt worse after eating it. And there was also a party on Saturday night so I had less time to work on it. It was two uni friends' 22nd birthday party but it was at camden since they live on campus. Oh my god... that one hour drive each way. And normally you only see roadkill once every couple of trips but I saw so many on the way there and I thought, I'm totally going to run into something on the way back, considering they like to come out when it's dark and there's only less than 10 street lights the whole drive back... Left at 11:30 and sure enough, a kangaroo was hoping across the road about 5m in front of me (80km/h road). Almost hit it.......... 0 comment[s] | back to top16 hours to go

So my presentation was at 9:20 this morning........ the second one up (order is pre-determined). Good and bad - good because get it over and done with and feel numb after, and bad because not mentally prepared (never). However one good thing is that when my friend (who was first, before me) and I did our presentations, there were relatively few people but towards the middle there were a lot of PhD students and academics coming to watch. This of course faded towards the afternoon so lesson is go early or late, not middle (not that we get to choose). Ugh... In any case as usual there were many regrets. SO many things I forgot to say and SO many slip ups. I hate presentations... I want to headdesk so bad every time I think about it. I think it's going to take a week (or even more) before this stops becoming cringeworthy every time I think back to it. Also there was this part everyone thought I was cracking a joke..... Because I was saying I had to match 6000 dog names to a file that had 192000 names but there were so many typos and misspellings that name matches weren't exact so you can't do search function or anything. And I was saying there's no way you would want to do this by eye.... (In case you're wondering the answer to this is to make code to do a fuzzy match which matches names that are less than a certain string distance apart. That's what I did). EDIT: Also since my supervisor is in Africa and couldn't make it, one of his PhD students came for my talk (and I didn't know about this beforehand) and I'm mortified cause she reported back to him on how it went. Supervisor said she thought I handled the questions well but I will never stop cringing about the whole thing. In other news, I have no less than 20 mosquito bites on my feet from Sunday. This is not an exaggeration by any means. There's also one on the sole of my foot... And unfortunately I've scratched the bites so bad during sleep that it's no longer "raised red skin" but it's actually open and like mini-scabs... And since my feet are kind of swollen, walking to uni and any form of shoes really causes both itching and pain. I just wore flats and I was limping because the edge of it dug into one of the worst bites T_T 0 comment[s] | back to topHappy Birthday!!!

And I'm going to break and sink. This next 7 days will be the end of my past 9(?) months of work. Honours presentation on Thursday (15%) and manuscript on the Monday after (35%). That's 50% of FOUR UNITS. I think I'm going to die. I hate presentations and my manuscript has SO MUCH that needs fixing. I think the stress has given me at least 10,000 more grey hairs and I'm probably going to get stomach ulcers. Or something. I don't know. Wish I could say it's over after that but there is still coursework assignment due on Fri, then basically finals. Ugh. Help. See you guys on the other side? 0 comment[s] | back to top |
