I can't believe this time last year I was in Korea, and in a few days we would've gone to Japan. Ah I miss the warmth (though I don't miss the summer rainy season and the three days I had soggy shoes and socks from walking in the rain --- also gave me a gross rash).

Every year I think "this year I will try harder to survive winter and complain less" but nope, not happening. It's only been a month and still two more to go ugh. Spring isn't even warm so it's more like 5 months.

The usual
written on Saturday, June 18, 2016 @ 10:47 PM ✈

So yesterday was the end of my exams. As per the usual, I feel totally unfulfilled. Teacher made us do many practice math calculations throughout the semester which were super basic (though other people found it hard? And their confusion was starting to rub off on me but then I decided to just ignore and go with my gut cause yes I can do this). Did any of it show up in the exam? NO! And lecturer said she liked maths and biostats but noooo no such questions came up. Ugh, she betrayed me. Why did I even bring my calculator.

Also felt like we were only tested on 10% of the whole unit. Why do tests always feel like that. Well I'm glad fish immune system wasn't asked but still, all the effort that went into studying the 90% that didn't get tested...

And never forget the first question "name 3 aquaculture species farmed in Australia, their scientific name and label on the map where they are farmed." And that moment when I can do two but for the third I'm stuck. I know a tonne of species and their scientific name but don't know where they are farmed. THEN I know where a few species are farmed but I don't know their scientfic name?? ARGH.

Anyway I guess I can be grateful she gave us plenty of writing time (2.5 hours) because she said she doesn't believe in forcing people to write fast to do well (*cough*English*cough*). And that is so true because English was annoying as, and wasn't even about how good my essay was and more about if I could get it all down ugh. If it was typing it would have been no problem. I don't know why English was so rude with timing anyway. Well in aquaculture more time won't make you do better, you either know it or not so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (it was all written responses and no multiple choice)

week 13 終わり
written on Friday, June 3, 2016 @ 11:29 PM ✈

Week 13 finished so now for the next hurdle... exams. (And stats assignments).

Honours project is starting to freak me out now. A lot to do and to learn.

Today was the last lesson for aquaculture and the last time I need to drive to farm for this sem...until exams. One thing I really don't like about the drive are the birds that keep flying onto the road onto INCOMING TRAFFIC. It's really freaky and I wish they'd have better timing. Today's story is that there was a carcass on the middle of the road (standard) and a bird flew over and hovered above it and wouldn't move as I was approaching. Had to swerve into the next lane over (which is the oncoming traffic lane, but no cars were there) to avoid hitting it x_x

Anyway we had our "gastronomy" section today, where they brought in cooked salmon, barramundi, whole bunch of prawns and oysters for our class. I'd say the ratio of liking oysters to not liking is like 50:50. Basically my friend and I had quite a few while the rest of my friends were like ewww lol. Apparently in past years not many people liked oysters so the assistant teacher got to eat a dozen all to himself LOL.

Our class also had pizza party round 2 and after that we had cupcakes as well since it was one of our friend's birthday! On top of that I made choc chip cookies for my friends since they always complain I don't bake them stuff and oh dear... it was a lot of food all in all. Also I don't think my cookies (or baking in general) is anything that great but they ate my whole box of cookies in like a couple of minutes?? And they kept asking me for the recipe cause they said it was that good haha... I don't know, I think they're just okay?

Anyway watching these videos where the people are speaking korean and english subs aren't available but japanese ones are so I'm just reading that instead and I actually understand most of it. Wow. That's good I guess? Knowledge getting put to good use lol.
