recent update :
what is sleep
written on Thursday, March 7, 2013 @ 11:12 PM ✈

On the way to uni this morning Issy caught up with me and I realised this was my first time seeing her in uni. I also realised I have a tendency to fall asleep on the morning train ride which worries me because maybe one day I'll completely miss my stop. Though it's not a deep sleep, it's more like I close my eyes and then the next time I open them, we're already at the next stop and I'm never quite sure if I "fell asleep."

The picket lines weren't too bad, some people had a bit of a rough experience trying to get through though. Arabi later told me that Issy got freaked out by it xD The people kept yelling "go home! Don't go to class!" and I was thinking "as if man, it took me almost an hour to get here how could I turn back now" o_o I'm seriously wondering if any lecturers/ staff of usyd are actually part of it because they don't seem like they are plus all my lecturers were like "meh we still have class so you should come" which is what I did. I remember the whole week random people were trying to get students to support the strike but when we found out classes were still on, D. was like "oh hell no, I'm not supporting the strike when we still have class!" xD

So confused, why are we learning in physics in chem and learning chem in bio? My only reaction is

In any case bio is so boring which is exactly why I didn't do it in high school. Though I should probably try harder since that's the only unit I don't have any basic knowledge of. I think the only good thing about bio is our lecturer is pretty cool, and sometimes during his slides he has a multiple choice thing to test out if you're getting it so far and you pick the answer on your mobile/computer and then after a while on the screen it shows how many people picked which answer.

I found Cissy in my break and she had a 3 hour break which is insane. I'm glad my longest one is 2 hours because any longer and I think I'd go crazy. Well actually her 3 hour break is a once off because her maths lecturer ditched them. Arabi also came by, she was on her way to her lecture and then I had to leave to go find the place for my stupid prac which is off campus ==

I think it's going to get annoying very quickly, if not already, even though it's only once a week. What happens is, I have to spend about 25 mins walking from the uni to that prac which is past the train station and then afterwards, I walk back to uni cause I have a bio lecture and then walk back to the station to go home. So annoying == I wish I could just go home after the prac but I don't want to skip bio stuff until I get it properly. Oh I also saw Shirls on the way to my prac and back but both times we didn't have time to stop and talk :(

Such a long day, I was just sooo happy to be home. Not looking forward to the days I have 4pm finishes since the trains had a lot more people than the empty 2pm ones. I only slept 5 hours last night because I was sorting out a lot of things but I didn't fall asleep in anything today hurray \( ^o^)/ So happy! Only a 2 hour tutorial tomorrow so basically when I got home I was like "meh, not doing work today" :D

Such a bad attitude I know. I'll catch up on the weekend. Unfortunately I'm so not looking forward to the tutorial tomorrow because I saw what we're going to do online on blackboard and it's the whole "introduce yourself and let's play circle games" thing. Gross, god why. I hate hate hate that stuff! I'm fine if it's short intros but they want us to do the whole talk about yourself and tell everyone weird things about yourself for an hour == Unnecessary as hell and I know no one will agree but I just dislike the atmosphere when we have to do that stuff. I'd rather make friends at my own pace and in my own time and not in a situation like that. Also I hate circle games, they always involve bad stuff I don't like.

Today I had my first chem tutorial and all we did was some really strange worksheet that was filled with blanks we had to fill in with element names to complete the puns. They were so out there and you really really had to stretch your mind to figure it out. Must be outdated puns :/

Tonight I shall not know the definition of sleep  \( ^o^)/ Jokes, not strong enough for all-nighters (not that I would), I'll probably just be sleeping a bit late because yay sleep-in opportunity tomorrow. I already spent all afternoon and all evening reading random things on the internet and catching up on some things (though still no time for mfw). I also came upon something sad, why why why does that country get them and we don't :( Hurry up and come here already. Also last year I missed out on something because I'm so misinformed and so I was going to do it this year and I missed it again == Have to wait another year... Will I even remember next year? I should set a reminder in my phone now or something. Sad.

A word of advice for no one, don't wear jeans and boots. Just don't. Unfortunately on Monday D. and I were stuck in "rainy gloomy friday farm mode" (that day that was super rainy and cold last week) so we both wore jumpers, jeans and boots which I thought was acceptable since it was supposed to be 25 but nope, we both burnt to death, it was so hot. Never again. I'm only going to wear long pants/jeans when it's actually winter, it's seriously too hot otherwise.

Like even if it's 24 or so which would make jeans okay, unfortunately on the walk to uni, being in the sun that long makes it wayyy too hot so I'd rather just wear shorts. You can't possibly get cold and if you do, just wear a jumper because your legs will be fine. And who's doing the weather reports seriously == Yesterday they said it would be sunny and yet I froze on the train because I forgot to bring a jumper (or rather, why would I if it's supposed to be sunny?) and someone opened the windows so all this cold air got in == And then it was sprinkling on my way to uni and I was like "this better not get heavier before I get there because I didn't bring an umbrella." Gah the one time I don't have my umbrellas seriously!

Uni life is going to kill our washing machine. Gosh I miss having uniforms, they were so damn economical. I already have a big mess of "dirty" clothes in my room which I only wore once and I don't think it's a good idea to wear it again before washing it because sad to say, people can get quite erm sweaty/dirty spending quite a bit of time in the sun walking around campus and to the station and uni and blah.

Oh I had a fun experience with my shoes today. They broke this morning as I got in the car and I didn't have time to go change so I had to tie it up xD More specifically, my shoe laces broke so I had to tie it around some parts of the shoe... it's hard to explain. They're sandals by the way. It broke two more times today, in two different places. And once again I had to tie it up but at least I got home okay! Now I have to chuck them out and they've lasted me quite a long time :O Now I don't have any more sandals and I prefer wearing those to uni instead of closed shoes because it's too hot T_T

Argh I feel doomed already because I saw our assignment due in week 5 and it's so lengthy... Not only that but it's group work and we haven't had our tutorial yet so obviously we don't have our group and argh what if the people I have to work with don't pull their weight :/ I love how our lecturer was like "if you're in a group with someone who you don't like or doesn't like you, well get over it because you can't have it the way you like sometimes and that's what's going to happen when you work in the real world!" xD Found that funny because nothing like a touch of reality.
