So I missed masterchef on Sunday because our family went out for dinner and I didn't have a chance to catch up on that ep until now and the highlight of the episode is definitely the part where they lift the lid of the mystery box and there's nothing underneath and since this week's theme is love the contestants go "love is hollow" and "love is empty." LOL

EDIT: Lol didn't get to the next part which was just as good where Matt says in reply to their reaction "At this stage I would like to say this is not some statement from masterchef about love being NOTHING! -contestants laugh- or EMPTY."

OKAY you know what scrap that. This episode is just priceless everything is so funny so far. Or maybe because it's 11:15 right now and even though it's not that late maybe the deliriousness has already settled in for the night.

In any case here are the other moments I loved:

Kelty: "custard apple and salmon, classic flavour combination there."
Judges: -looks at each other and gives the o.O look-

when they got told have to swap their boxes: OMG NOOOOOO -falls to the ground- lol shocks all round

It's pretty funny because the contestants obviously try to give their box to someone they think won't be able to cook something out of it well.

Vern (after Samira gives her box to him): oh great this is the gift that keeps on giving

Noelene (has the lamb brains): I can't give it to Neha because I'm close to her and I think ooh I can give it to Lucy but all she has is fear in her eyes. So I think screw it, I'm going to give it to Kelty.

Kelty (who was once made to cook offal by Noelene so I feel bad he got trolled by her again): Noelene has completely missed the brief, it's about LOVE Noelene, LOVE! This is BRAINS.

And then after that people were less mean and actually gave their box to people they thought would be okay with it and in turn those people gave their boxes to that person so people ended up with boxes that had similar ingredients to what they had so those people were happy.

When the contestants had to pick a "strange" ingredient as a core ingredient some of them weren't that bad. I think custard apple would be the best choice (it's not that strange is it?) but other decent ones are the liver, brains, etc. There was also dragonfruit and durian which I think you could work with. But the one I definitely wouldn't want to work with is sea urchin because not only does it look creepy, I think opening it would be difficult.

I loved how when people were choosing who to give their box to everyone would avoid giving eye contact just like what happens in school when you don't know an answer xD
