You know what I find ironic? Ever since my sister and I were little kids, whenever our parents' friends would come over, we always had to say "阿姨好,叔叔好" (hello), never eat food unless we offered it to them as well, etc and other little things which were considered good behaviour. Since we were little, sometimes we would unknowingly do things that were "rude" and were always promptly told off as soon as the guests left.

And yet I find Chinese people to be quite rude sometimes == Sorry, just going to generalise it to chinese people since most of my parents' friends are chinese people. Well firstly, my parents always tell me to never call people during dinner and I can't tell you how many times we were about to sit down for dinner and then our phone would ring. Or worse, people actually show up at our house. Not only that, there are days when I pick up the phone and then I hear someone saying in chinese "can you give this phone to your dad/mum?"

Then when I go to hand the phone to them my parents always ask me who it is that's on the phone and I'm like "how am I supposed to know because when they call they don't even tell me what their name is?!" ()ノ彡┻━┻ Of course I say it in my head because otherwise that's rude == But this has happened so many times it's beyond annoying. Isn't it common sense that when you call and when the phone has to get passed on you tell them who you are? Ugh.

And last but not least, this is the one thing I will never understand. I seriously cannot comprehend how it is always acceptable for my parents' friends to call us on the morning of any given day and simply go "oh let's head out for yum cha, go see blah, go have a barbecue, come to my party etc etc." Do Chinese people not understand that sometimes we might be busy and you should consider calling at least maybe a day in advance so we can set aside time for you? Ugh and somehow it always works out but there are honestly days I'd rather be doing something else. I like to make plans and not have to rearrange them just because someone decides to call us up in the morning and tell us that we have to go somewhere at night == If I tried that stunt with any of my friends I'm pretty sure I'd be the only one going to whatever event it is because everyone would say no and that they're busy.

You can probably guess where that rant came from because guess what? Yep instead of being able to study tonight someone called up and suddenly it was decided that we were heading to the city for a buffet dinner with a bunch of people sigh. It wasn't too bad, I got to satisfy my craving for Italian food and it was also that place in Star City which I hadn't been to in a while. Main downside was one of the kids sitting next to me was playing some game on an iphone which apparently involved the song gangnam style playing three times on repeat. Bleh.

In any case studying for bio annoys me so much because it's even worse than last time in the sense that the material doesn't flow and it seems every 2 lectures we're learning something completely unrelated to the last. BIOL1001 was so much better because I think you could categorise what we learnt into 4 "broader/ main topics" and this semester's bio is like 50 billion. On top of that, my notes for only one lecture spans an average of 20 pages, some lectures have 25 or even 30 pages of notes. I had 25 lectures this semester, so you do the maths. Gross right? I can't even read it through many many times because it's so time consuming. VETS1318 (cell bio) is even worse, the notes per lecture are just as long if not longer, and there were 33 lectures. I'm going to die.

Ah another thing that annoys me is when my parents never put the cordless home phone back in its charger after using it. This means that every time I need to call someone, guess what? Phone is out of batteries and I need to wait until it's charged before I can call x_x And you know what happened today? My mum called from work to tell me we were going out tonight for dinner and so the phone was ringing like crazy but no matter how many times I pressed the "answer key" on it, the screen remained blank but the phone kept ringing.

The problem? The phone was out of battery. Go figure. So I put it on the charger but I still couldn't answer it and it stopped ringing. In the meanwhile, my mobile began ringing in the other room (mum trying to reach me again) but I didn't hear it since I was looking at our lifeless home phone. After five minutes it rings again, and this time I can finally hit the answer button but the phone has to stay on the charger.

Mum: Why didn't you answer the phone?! Were you still in bed?! (It's 11:30am by now)
Me: UGH I COULDN'T ANSWER BECAUSE YOU GUYS NEVER CHARGE THE PHONE ()ノ彡┻━┻

And then we had our "lovely" conversation all while I was holding the phone and the charger to my ear. Perfect.

To top today all off, I've been having a nice headache all day and there was even a period of time where it was doing that sharp throbbing pain. Also sometimes I get splotches of weird dots which blur my sight when I get up :/

This whole post is hereby tagged #firstworldproblems (sorry I'm such a whiny brat)
